Winning Solution for Anna Lizzie

Monday, 8 October 2012

Anna Lizzie relished a huge drop in grade to win the CCS Insurance Solutions Maiden (1400m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Anna Lizzie (3f Mearas – Strange Aura by Kreisler) is trained locally by Alan Bailey and she was primed to win at home after an unplaced run in open company at Doomben last month.  She skipped clear in the straight to defeat the fast-finishing favourite Soft Angel (Valixir) by a long neck.

Bred by Raheen Stud, the lightly raced filly was purchased by James Grant for $20,000 at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions Summer yearling sale.  Her NZ bred dam Strange Aura won 6 races including the Golden Garter at Eagle Farm and she was also runner-up in a LR Silk Stocking at the Gold Coast.

Anna Lizzie has a yearling half-brother by Raheen resident Publishing and she can keep increasing his value leading up to the 2013 Magic Millions.

Mearas (Redoute’s Choice) stood at Raheen but died after a sole season at stud and that crop also includes Doomben stakes performer Regular.
