Warhogg wins for Bileena Stud

Warwick based breeder Naomi Tuckwell has enjoyed a good run with Raheen Stud sires and their latest winner Warhogg is a promising horse in the making.

Tuckwell operates Bileena Stud which is only a half-hour’s drive from Raheen.  She sold Warhogg for $16,000 at the 2011 Magic Millions Summer yearling sale and that looked a bargain when the colt scored a barrier-to-box victory second time out at the Gold Coast.

“Warhogg is still about six months away from being a real racehorse,’’ part-owner Glenn Beauclerc said.  “We’re happy with what he’s shown so far and he will come back even better after a break.”

Warhogg is from the penultimate crop of former Raheen sire Shovhog and Tuckwell will send his dam Miss Bletchingly back to Raheen to be covered by Captain Sonador.

A Group 1 winner of the Epsom Hcp at Randwick, Captain Sonador is by emerging sire of sires Shamardal and is currently serving his second book at an $11,000 (inc gst) service fee.

Another Bileena Stud mare with a Raheen connection is Doors.  “She’s by Grand Lodge out of Windows so is well-named,” Tuckwell said.  “She has just foaled a lovely colt by Publishing.”

Doors has three year-old filly Closed In (Choisir) with Kelly Schweida and she put the writing on the wall with a fast-finishing second at Doomben last month.

Publishing’s first crop are two year-olds and Raheen has five of his colts catalogued for the upcoming Magic Millions HIT Sale.
