Stromberg star in Singapore

My New Boss boosted Raheen Stud’s strike-rate from the 2010 Magic Millions HIT Sale with a brilliant victory in Singapore on Sunday.

My New Boss (2g Stromberg Carlson – Lady Of Jewels by Danzero) showed remarkable improvement with the addition of blinkers and looks a sure-fire money-spinner for trainer Brian Dean.

“He only cost $20,000 at the Gold Coast and I own half of him with David Chew,” Dean said.  “He’s a lovely horse and looks a cheap buy now.”

Dean will wait until later this week before deciding whether the winner will back up in the G3 Magic Millions Juvenile Championship at Kranji next Sunday.  “He travelled really good and I was very happy with the way he hit the line.” Dean added.  “I’ll see how he pulls up and then see if we go around again.”

Magic Millions graduates have won 17 juvenile races in Singapore this season.  And 10 of them have changed hands at the National Horses in Training Sale.

My New Boss is the first winner for Lady of Jewels.  Second dam Exclusive Jewel (Rory’s Jester) is a half sister to stakes winners Exclusive Halo and Miss Jugah.

My New Boss posted the 95th win for Stromberg Carlson.  He is based at Raheen and is a Redoute’s Choice half-brother to Testa Rossa.

Raheen’s draft at the 2010 Magic Millions HIT Sale also included South Korean youngster Jeonseong Sidae who has won 4 of his 5 starts this year.

Jeonseong Sidae (2c Stromberg Carlson – Jessie’s Journey by Crown Jester) has banked the equivalent of AUD 107,020 for owner Jeong Un Jin.  He was a $15,000 buy from the Raheen draft at last year’s HIT Sale.
