Raheen colt Jet propelled at Magic Millions

Thursday, 20 January 2011

Astute Gold Coast trainer Helen Page paid $20,000 for a Jet Spur colt from Raheen Stud during Session 6 at the Magic Millions on Wednesday.

Jet Spur is one of the leading young sires coming through the ranks in Queensland and the colt’s dam Relic Bay (Canny Lad) is an unraced half-sister to G2 QTC Cup winner Sir Breakfast.

Relic Bay will have a cracking colt from the first crop of Raheen sire Publishing for sale at the 2012 Magic Millions.

A Mearas – Strange Aura colt also made $20,000 to the bid of Queensland buyer James Grant during Session 6.  Mearas was a G3 winning son of Redoute’s Choice but died after covering just one book at Raheen in 2008.

The colt’s dam Strange Aura has already foaled winners by Canny Lad and Danzero.

Raheen resident Stromberg Carlson had three colts change hands and they averaged over $10,000.  Jeff McCarter topped the trio when he bought the first foal of Toowoomba winner Kris Crossing.  The mare has a Publishing filly at foot and she will be eligible for the 2012 Magic Millions.

Queensland studmasters agreed it was a difficult market for fillies during Session 6.  Several Stromberg Carlson fillies failed to reach their reserves and are still for sale by calling Raheen Stud on (07) 4666 1172.

All four fillies are QTIS eligible:

Lot 1022   Stromberg Carlson – Go Madge

Lot 1034   Stromberg Carlson – Hepburn Rose

Lot 1045   Stromberg Carlson – Jestapatch

Lot 1086   Stromberg Carlson – O’Venus
