Adebisi at cutting edge in Queensland

Magic Millions graduate Adebisi has turned the corner since being gelded following a disappointing winter campaign.

Adebisi (4g Shovhog – Hell For Leather by Sanction) is unbeaten this season after scoring a G3 victory in the George Moore Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.  He had won first-up at Eagle Farm on November 26.

“Don’t ever underestimate this bloke,” trainer Desleigh Forster told AAP.  “He’s come back a better horse – two stone lighter!”

Adebisi is by deceased Raheen sire Shovhog and the leading Darling Downs stud sold him for $15,000 at the 2009 Magic Millions Summer yearling sale.  Saturday’s victory boosted his record to 6 wins in 21 starts for $471,000 in prizemoney.

“I had wanted to cut him since he was a two-year-old but held off,” Forster revealed.  “We also decided he’s probably better off in the lead instead of being ridden quietly.”

Adebisi will be set for the Listed Goldmarket Hcp (1300m) to be run at the Gold Coast on January 2.  Along the way, Forster will consider starting him in the LR Lough Neagh Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on Christmas Eve.

The George Moore winner is a younger brother to Doomben winner The Gingermeister who was also trained by Forster for a syndicate including Raheen studmaster Basil Nolan.

Their dam Hell For Leather foaled a Jet Spur filly in October and she has been tested in foal to Raheen’s Group 1 newcomer Captain Sonador.

Raheen came close to a stakes winning double at Doomben when Punch On flew home to be beaten a short neck in the LR Mode Plate over 1200m.

Punch On (3f Tiger Hill – School Blue by Geiger Counter) was racing first-up after a 14 week break and trainer Peter Balzen is sure to find a nice race for her over the summer carnival.

Balzen bought her from Raheen’s consignment at the 2010 Magic Millions QTIS Sale for $16,000 and she has already earned $140,000.

Raheen sold her Sequalo half-brother to Malaysian interests for $25,000 at the 2011 QTIS Sale.

School Blue has four winners from as many starters.  Her dam Blue Feather (Sadler’s Wells) is a half-sister to multiple English and French G1 winner Bigstone.

School Blue’s latest yearling is a colt from the first crop of Raheen’s Testa Rossa sire Publishing.
